Potter Family history to be focus of 4th Tuesday Speaker Series

Tim Gardner of Brown & Sons Funeral Home to talk about one of OP’s founding families

The Friends of the Orchard Park Public Library is pleased to announce that Tim Gardner, funeral director of Brown & Sons Funeral Home, will discuss the history of the Potter Family at the next 4th Tuesday Speaker Series presentation on Tuesday, May 22.

The presentation will take place at 7 p.m. at the Orchard Park Public Library, 4570 South Buffalo Street, in Orchard Park. This is event is FREE and open to the public.

Please join us as Tim introduces us to one of Orchard Park’s founding families. The Potter family came to OP from Vermont in 1806.  Joshua, his wife, Judith and his brother, Nathaniel, were three of the town’s first settlers. Joshua and Judith’s son, Allen, was one of the first white children born in our area. At that time Buffalo had a population of 150 settlers.

Tim has set up a fascinating museum at the Brown Funeral Home. It is open whenever the Home is open.

There will be no 4th Tuesday Speaker Series presentations in June, July or August. Our next lecture will be on Sept. 25 with a presentation on Shipwrecks of Lake Erie by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historical Preservation

More information on upcoming speakers can found on our 4th Tuesday Speaker Series page.
